No Prison for Supply of 11 bags of Cocaine

Oxford Lawyers Criminal lawyers Parramatta – Criminal Lawyers Sydney

Our client was stopped by an unmarked police car in the early hours of Sunday morning in Surry Hills. Police noticed his trembling and erratic movements and questioned him, where he made full admissions to having a significant amount of cocaine in the center console of his car.

The police searched the vehicle and found 9 bags in the console, 1 bag hidden away in a concealed compartment, 1 bag on our client and even more cocaine located in an open tin. Our client was arrested and taken to Surry Hills Police station.

Our client was charged with the supply of a prohibited drug under Section 25(1) of the Drug Misuse and Trafficking Act 1985 which carries a sentence of 15 years imprisonment and a fine of $2200.

Thankfully, the client managed to retain Mr Zemarai Khatiz, Principal of Oxford Lawyers and Accredited Specialist in Criminal Law. Mr Khatiz presented strong submissions to the Court and brought to light a number of relevant factors such as his young age and the steps that he had taken to rehabilitate himself. The Court was persuaded by the submissions and did not send him to jail.

Our client was very impressed with the result and grateful for the outcome. He praised the high level of professionalism and sensitivity in which his case was handled by Mr Khatiz and all the staff at Oxford lawyers.
