Our client had spoken to the alleged victim, who had just left the hospital after a medical treatment. Our client supposedly met up with two other men who closely followed and proceeded to punch and attack the victim, whom sustained major injuries requiring surgery.
Our client was charged with causing grievous bodily harm to the alleged victim. This is a very serious offence which carries a significant term of imprisonment if found guilty.
Our client had difficulties communicating with the officers who questioned him and required an interpreter to overcome the language barrier. Our client contacted Oxford Lawyers and was immediately put in touch with by Mr Zemarai Khatiz, a Parramatta Criminal Law Specialist. Mr Khatiz and the staff were able to overcome the language differences and communicate effectively with the client the seriousness of the allegation.
He was charged only by the word of the victim. Mr Khatiz’s submissions to the court held that there was insufficient proof and inconsistencies in witness testimonies to show, beyond a reasonable doubt, that our client was involved in the attack. There was no CCTV footage or any other tangible evidence to prove this. As a result of this, our client was found not guilty and faced no conviction.
Our client was very appreciative and thankful for all the hard work and dedication that Mr Khatiz and his staff presented in order to achieve the best outcome.
