Police then activated warning lights and sirens and sighted our client placing objects near the vicinity of the passenger seat.

Police later located the male that entered our clients vehicle and he made admissions to buying cocaine off our client.

Police searched our clients vehicle and located a large amount of cash in our clients wallet. Police continued to search the vehicle and located a large bundle of cash in the centre console of the vehicle. Police then located another large bundle of cash underneath a child’s seat located in the rear passenger seat. Police also located cannabis in a silver tin along with a baseball bat and two mobile phones that were within the vehicle.

Our client made admissions to having prohibited items within his underwear; Police searched our client and located 13 bags of cocaine.

Police formally arrested our client and conveyed him to Waverley Police Station where he was charged with the following:

  1. Possess prohibited drug under Section 10(1) of the Drug Misuse and Trafficking Act 1985.

The Maximum penalty for this offence is 2 years imprisonment and/or a fine of $2200.

  1. Deal with property proceeds of crime under Section 193c(2) of the Crimes Act 1900.

The Maximum penalty for this offence is 3 years imprisonment and/or a fine of $2200.

  1. Supply prohibited drug under Section 25(1) of the Drug Misuse and Trafficking Act 1985.

The Maximum penalty for this offence is 15 Years imprisonment and/or a fine of $220000

Understandably, our client’s distress over a possible jail sentence compelled him to contact Oxford Lawyers to give him the best chance at avoiding jail and continuing to live with his family. Our client retained Principal Solicitor and Accredited Criminal Law Specialist Mr Zemarai Khatiz.

Mr Khatiz appeared in Waverley Local Court, where he made powerful submissions for our client to avoid a jail sentence. The magistrate accepted these submissions and only imposed a good behaviour bond!

Our client was very pleased with this outcome as it meant he was given a second chance at life and could continue living with and supporting his family.
