Case Dismissed, Client charged with Common Assault and Destruction of Property

A father found himself in deep trouble and with three charges after an alleged incident with his girlfriend

The police alleged that a minor argument escalated quickly between our client and his girlfriend and it was alleged by the police that it ended up with him grabbing her by her shoulders and punching her head, ribs and arms. As a result, she allegedly suffered injuries.

Our client then allegedly picked up a scooter and moved towards her car to smash that too, but decided his fists were better and instead punched the mirror. It was alleged because of the punch the mirror broke.

Police charged him with on three counts; one count of Common Assault under section 61 of the Crimes Act 1900 (NSW), and two counts of Destroy or Damage Property under section 195(1)(A) of the Crimes Act 1900 (NSW). If found guilty of these charges, our client was looking at a term of imprisonment.

Thankfully the client contacted Oxford Lawyers where Mr Zemarai Khatiz, Criminal Law Specialist, appeared in Mount Druitt Local Court and successfully defended the charges.

Our client was found not guilty of all the charges.

This was an excellent result considering the seriousness of the allegations.
