Bail Granted! Client Charged with Knife Stabbing!

The victim is seen to follow our client’s vehicle. A witness from the victims vehicle has exited the car and removed their shirt and ran towards our clients vehicle. The victim also exited the vehicle and began to walk in our client’s direction.

It is alleged that our client exited the vehicle with a knife in his hand and ran in the direction of the victim and witness.

At this time a passenger of the victims vehicle has drove the car and purposefully collided into the rear of our client’s vehicle.

The victim has allegedly seen our client with a knife and turned ran into their car and closed the door. The window of the driver door was open and the accused has approached the car driver and yelled profanities. It is then alleged that our client has stabbed the victim in the pelvis area and punched the victim 3-4 times in the face. At this point the victim has drove away from the scene.

Our client was arrested and conveyed to Liverpool Police Station where he was refused bail.

Our client was charged with the following:

Wound Person with intent to cause Grievous Bodily Harm under section 33(1)(a).

The Maximum Penalty for this offence is 25 years imprisonment with a 7 Year Standard Non-Parole Period.

While in police custody our client contacted and retained Principal Solicitor and Accredited Criminal Law Specialist Mr Zemarai Khatiz from Oxford Lawyers.

On behalf of our client Mr Khatiz applied for bail and appeared at Liverpool Local Court where he made strong submissions that mitigated our clients ‘bail concerns’ pursuant to Section 17 of the Bail Act 2013.

Based on the submissions and bail conditions presented by Mr Khatiz, our client was granted bail!

Our client was overjoyed by this result as it meant he was released from jail and could continue to support his family.
