Police observed our client exiting a building with an electronic monitoring bracelet on his ankle. Police followed our client and approached him. Police questioned our client and searched his backpack.
Within the bag, police located a large amount of pills. At this stage our client was directed to get on the ground and was arrested, handcuffed and cautioned.
Police continued their search and located vials of liquids, and an amount of white powder.
Our client was conveyed to Newcastle Police Station and charged with the:
3 counts of Possess Prohibited Drug under Section 10(1) of the Drug Misuse and Trafficking Act 1985 and two counts of Supply a Prohibited Drug under section 25(1) of the Drug Misuse and Tracking Act 1985.
The Maximum penalty for Possess a Prohibited Drug is imprisonment for 2 years and a fine of $2200.
The Maximum penalty for Supply a Prohibited Drug is imprisonment for 15 years and a fine of $220000.
Our client was in serious risk of facing a lengthy time in prison.
Fortunately, he contacted Oxford Lawyers and retained Principal Solicitor and Accredited Criminal Law Specialist Mr Zemarai Khatiz.
Mr Khatiz worked tirelessly to ensure our client received the best result possible and thanks to his dedication and preparation, the prosecution withdrew the drug supply charges.
Mr Khatiz appeared at Newcastle Local Court where our client pleaded guilty to the possessing prohibited drugs. Mr Khatiz then made strong submissions in our clients favour. The Magistrate was persuaded by Mr Khatiz and imposed a good behaviour bond upon our client!
This was a fantastic result, our client was extremely pleased and understood without the dedicated work of Mr Khatiz and the team at Oxford Lawyers this result would not be possible.
