Our client was detected by an Electronic Police Radar to have been exceeding the speed limit by over 30km/h. As a result, our client’s driver licence was suspended for three months.
Our client was charged under Section 59 of the Road Transport Act 2013 for exceeding the speed limit by more than 30km/h, but not more than 45km/h whilst driving a motor vehicle. This offence carries a drivers licence suspension penalty of 3 months.
Understandably, our client’s distress over a possible suspension of his licence compelled him to contact Oxford Lawyers to ensure that he would be able to safeguard his ability to travel to work and support his family. He was able to retain Principal Solicitor and Accredited Criminal Law Specialist Mr Zemarai Khatiz. In Parramatta Local Court, Mr Khatiz appealed the licence suspension, and made compelling submissions in favour of our client retaining his licence. The Magistrate accepted these submissions and allowed the appeal, resulting in no suspension of our client’s licence.
Our client was very pleased with this outcome as being allowed to drive meant he was able to continue working and supporting his family.
